Quickly Cleaning For A Surprise Showing

It can happen! You can find that you have let your house get a little messier than you know you should have when your realtor calls you and lets you know they have someone who really wants to see the house. You don't want to put them off because this can lead to the loss of a sale. However, you also don't want them to walk into a mess. Ask the realtor if they can do their best to take their time getting to your house and clean it the best you can, as fast as you can. Here are some tips for doing a rush job:

Put all the dishes in the dishwasher

Even if you haven't yet unloaded all of the dishes that are clean in the dishwasher, you can take ones currently on the sink and stack them in the dishwasher on top of the clean ones. Of course, you are going to need to rewash the clean ones, but this is the fastest way to get your sink and counter cleared off before they arrive.

Use laundry baskets to quickly pick up large messes

If you have a lot of stuff piled on tables or even piled up on the ground then you are going to want to pick it up quickly and hide it where it won't be seen. Scoop everything into laundry baskets and pile them up in one of the rooms that will see the least attention. If you can, pile them up far in the back of one of the closets. To make it looks like the baskets may have clothing in them, you can toss sheets on top of each of them.

Make the beds

A little bit of a messy room can be made to look a lot neater simply by making the beds. While you don't have to go so far as to make sure that the beds have hospital corners and no wrinkles, you do have to do your best to make the bed presentable, with one large blanket covering it and the pillows.

Kick anything on the floor of the bedroom under the bed

While you are making up the beds in the bedrooms, you can also use the opportunity to kick anything on the floor under the beds along the way. Make sure you give the area around the bed a final look before leaving the room. You don't want to have things poking out from under the bed so it's obvious that you have a pile of stuff crammed under them.

When it comes to homes for sale, making yours the best it can be is your best opportunity to land an offer. These tips can help with last-minute showings.
